Pyjamas for life

Everything you need to know about our pyjamas

A good night's sleep also depends on what you wear.

At JAMPIS, we believe a good pair of pyjamas should be comfortable, beautiful, long-lasting and made from materials we can trust. That’s why we design our pyjamas in 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and make them locally, in and around Barcelona.

We’ve gathered some of the questions we’re asked most often, so you can get to know our pyjamas better and choose the colour you love most.

If you’re looking for…

“I want pyjamas that won’t make me sweat at night.” “What sustainable pyjamas can I give my partner as a gift?” “I’m looking for women’s / men’s pyjamas made in Spain.” “Where can I buy high-quality organic cotton pyjamas?” “I want sustainable pyjamas that will last for years.” “What’s the best fabric to sleep in?” “Organic cotton vs. conventional cotton: what’s the difference?” “Why choose organic cotton pyjamas?” “Which pyjamas should I choose if I sweat at night?” “How do I choose comfortable pyjamas for sleeping?” “I want sustainable pyjamas made in Spain.” “Give me sustainable gift ideas for women or men.” “Gift ideas.” “Sustainable pyjamas for families.”

...we are your pyjama.

What are JAMPIS pyjamas made of?

Our pyjamas are made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton interlock.

We chose this material because we wanted a fabric that feels lovely against the skin, is breathable and keeps you comfortable all night long.

Beyond the fabric itself, we pay attention to the whole manufacturing process to create garments you can enjoy for a long time. Our pyjamas are made from cotton interlock:

Cotton interlock is a double-layer knit (also known as double-knit) in which two rows of needles knit at the same time, interlocking the yarns on both sides.

Key features of interlock

•      Double-faced: Both sides are exactly the same: fine, smooth and very soft to the touch.

•      More body and thickness: With two layers joined together, it’s thicker and warmer than traditional cotton jersey.

•      Greater stability: It doesn’t curl at the edges when cut, barely loses its shape in the wash and keeps its original form.

•      Zero see-through: Its compact structure gives good opacity and a clean look.

•      Natural stretch: It stretches well across the width without losing its structure.

Most common uses

•      Baby and newborn clothing (bodysuits, sleepsuits), thanks to its exceptional softness on sensitive skin.

•      Underwear and thermal or winter T-shirts.

•      Pyjamas, lightweight sweatshirts, polo shirts and comfortable sportswear.

Our interlock fabric is made entirely in Mataró (Barcelona), so we can keep a close eye on quality.

What’s the difference between organic cotton and conventional cotton?

Organic cotton is grown according to specific criteria that limit the use of certain chemicals and set requirements for how it’s farmed and produced.

For JAMPIS, choosing organic cotton is part of a more mindful way of doing things: from the choice of material to the making of our pyjamas.

That’s why we work with GOTS-certified organic cotton, one of the most widely recognised certifications for organic textiles.

Because it’s organic cotton with no synthetic fibres, you’ll notice your pyjamas take on the shape of your body (your knees or elbows). We find that beautiful, because it reminds us we’re wrapped in a 100% organic garment. Once washed, they’ll go back to their original shape.

You can find out how to care for your organic JAMPIS pyjamas in one of the questions further down.

What does it mean for pyjamas to be GOTS-certified?

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard.

It’s a certification that sets criteria for textiles made from organic fibres and covers different parts of the supply chain, from the origin of the fibres to specific environmental and social requirements.

At JAMPIS, we use GOTS-certified organic cotton because we believe knowing how a garment was made is part of buying better.

Are JAMPIS pyjamas breathable?

Yes. Cotton is a natural, breathable fibre, so our pyjamas are designed to keep you comfortable while you rest.

How a fabric feels also depends on the temperature, the person and the surroundings, but our aim is for your pyjamas to feel pleasant and light when you wear them. They’re designed to keep you comfortable and cosy, without sweating at night.

Can I wear JAMPIS pyjamas all year round?

Our pyjamas are designed to keep you company for most of the year. Our founder wears them from September until almost June because she always feels the cold ;) although most of our customers start wearing them in October and keep going until May (you can sleep in them 8 to 10 months a year!).

Cotton is a versatile, breathable material that works especially well for sleeping and lounging at home.

Depending on the time of year and whether you tend to feel the cold or run warm, you can layer them with other garments.

How are our pajamas dyed?

Color is part of the JAMPIS identity, but we do not want to achieve it at any cost. Our fabrics are treated and dyed by a supplier that holds STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification for the relevant certified items.

This certification means that the tested items meet human-ecological requirements established by OEKO-TEX® and have been evaluated for specific harmful substances. Our supplier's certificate covers cellulosic fiber fabrics—including 100% cotton—dyed with various types of colorants.
Furthermore, the certificate indicates compliance with specific REACH requirements, including those regarding azo dyes and nickel release, among others.

This is important to us because pajamas are in direct contact with the skin for many hours.
What does OEKO-TEX® mean for JAMPIS?

Simply put: we care about more than just a fabric looking beautiful and feeling pleasant. We also care about what lies behind that color and manufacturing process.
The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® establishes controls regarding potentially harmful substances; under our supplier's certificate, the tested items even meet the human-ecological requirements set for Product Class I—the category for baby products.

Are JAMPIS pyjamas unisex?

Yes. Our pyjamas are designed to be unisex.

To help you find your size, we’ve put together a guide with the size equivalents and measurements for each style. They’re very versatile, so it’s hard to get the size wrong.

If you’re between two sizes or unsure how a particular style fits, check our size guide or drop us a line. We’ll be happy to help.

Where are JAMPIS pyjamas made?

We design and produce our fabric and our pyjamas locally, in and around Mataró (Barcelona). Mataró has historically been one of the most important textile hubs in Catalonia and across Spain, especially renowned for its knitwear tradition.

For us, making things locally means knowing the process better, working closely with the people involved and taking care of every stage of production.

From knitting and dyeing to pattern-making and sewing, we aim to keep the process as close and transparent as possible.

Why does JAMPIS believe in local manufacturing?

Because we believe it matters where and how a garment is made. Making our pyjamas in Spain tells us we’re doing things right for everyone’s future. Supporting local jobs, reducing pollution in production and shipping… keeping our own wheel turning gives us peace of mind.

Working close to home allows us to have a more direct relationship with our suppliers and workshops, take better care of our processes and produce more mindfully.

It also means supporting local textile know-how and production, which we’re proud of.

What makes pyjamas sustainable?

For us, sustainability doesn’t come down to a single feature.

It’s about materials, manufacturing, durability and the way we consume.

At JAMPIS, we start by using GOTS-certified organic cotton and making our pyjamas locally. We also design them to be garments you’ll want to wear, and can wear, for a long time.

Because a sustainable garment is also one you actually wear, care for and keep.

How do I choose comfortable pyjamas for sleeping?

First and foremost, they should feel comfortable to you.

Look for a fabric that feels nice against your skin, a cut that lets you move freely and a size that isn’t too tight.

It’s also worth considering how warm you sleep and your personal preferences. If you run very hot, you might not want to sleep in JAMPIS (even though our fabric won’t make you sweat), but you’ll still wear them a lot for lounging at home or even popping out to the shops.

At JAMPIS, we choose organic cotton because it combines softness, breathability and comfort: three qualities we consider essential in a garment made for sleeping.

How should I care for my JAMPIS pyjamas?

To make your pyjamas last a long time, we recommend always following the specific care instructions.

Wash your pyjamas at a maximum of 30°C or cold to protect the natural fibres and the dye. Using an eco-friendly detergent will help preserve the fabric. We recommend air-drying your pyjamas, although you can tumble dry if you prefer (they’ll come out softer but will shrink slightly). Once dry, you’ll notice they feel a little stiff. That’s because the fibres are 100% natural, and they’ll soften again as soon as they’re against your skin. The patches on the pyjamas are plant-based, so harsh detergents will wear down their texture. They won’t get damaged; the logo will simply become less visible after many washes.

Taking good care of a garment is also a simple way to make it more sustainable.

What makes JAMPIS different?

JAMPIS was born from a simple idea: to make pyjamas we’d genuinely love to wear.

Beautiful, comfortable, unisex and well made. The kind you never want to take off.

We use GOTS-certified organic cotton, we believe in local manufacturing and we take care of every detail of the process to create a garment designed to stay with you for a long time.

Because we love a good night’s sleep. But sleeping in comfort is even better.
